An investigation into Israeli war crimes!

An investigation of Israeli war crimes!

Another investigation into Israeli war crimes in Gaza by the UNHCR or United Nations Human Rights Commission. Their mandate calls to “investigate all violations of international humanitarian law and international human rights law in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, particularly in the occupied Gaza Strip, in the context of the military operations conducted since 13 June 2014.”

OK, the mandate is flawed from the word go. Why? Occupied Gaza Strip? I agree that Gaza is being occupied by a heinous group that goes by the name Hamas, but why not call it that. But wait a minute, why is there no mention of Hamas and their war crimes? Human shields anyone? Targeting civilians anyone? What occupied Palestinian Territory? Forget that Palestine became Israel in 1948. Since when was so-called east Jerusalem Arab? OK, you got me there, it was Arab for a whole 19 years! That is it! Even then it was controlled as occupied Israeli territory!

Any idea which country drafted the resolution? Interestingly it was not drafted by a country or a nation or even a people, it was drafted by the so-called Palestinian delegation. The same people that are carrying out war crimes in Gaza. A kangaroo court indeed. It is like a murderer accusing the prosecution.

But let us look at the makeup of the committee of inquiry. It is to be headed by a Professor William Schabas. William Schabas, has claimed that he wants to see Netanyahu tried by the ICC. Why? Because of the Goldstone Report on Operation Cast Lead. Forget the issue that Netanyahu was in the opposition at the time. It is of little interest because when it concerns the Palestine issue, facts are irrelevant. In essence, in very recent years, he has already shown an anti-Israel bias. "The suggestion that I'm anti-Israel is absurd," William Schabas said Monday in an interview, pointing out that he's on the editorial board of the Israel Law Review. Hmm, so what. It is like saying, "some of my best friends are Jewish."

In early 2013 at a tribunal on the issue of Palestine, Schabas said in a statement: Anyone who says that Israel has the right to exist – is considered our enemies. This is the person chosen to head the investigation in Israel! Perhaps William Schabas should be on trial for racism, along with Pillay!

So a blatantly anti-Israel person has been chosen to head a mission to investigate Israel? I have the feeling that the report has already been written and the verdict decided and they just need to fill in the blanks? Should Israel cooperate with Schabas? Does it matter? Facts are unimportant with the UNHCR. If facts are provided, they will be ignored. There are none so blind as those who will not see. Or as Goebbells once said, "if you tell a lie often enough, people will believe it is the truth". This is in essence the entire basis of the Palestinian narrative, a nation that does not exist before 1964 and was invented by the PLO as a political tool. In their own words: "The Palestinian people does not exist. The creation of a Palestinian state is only a means for continuing our struggle against the state of Israel for our Arab unity. In reality today there is no difference between Jordanians, Palestinians, Syrians and Lebanese. Only for political and tactical reasons do we speak today about the existence of a Palestinian people, since Arab national interests demand that we posit the existence of a distinct "Palestinian people" to oppose Zionism."

If Schabas had an ounce of integrity, he would have recused himself as any human would, but this is for the UN. Schabas has said that he can remain impartial. Not sure that he can judging by what he has said in the past, complaining not only about Netanyahu but also saying Shimon Peres needs to be judged at the ICC. He has already judged Israel.

Can he look at facts and draw the right conclusion? Well, let us look at the facts from the past. In a 2009 blog post about the UN’s infamous extremely racist Durban II conference on racism, Schabas urged the world not only to “ignore” Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s statements, but to stop “exaggerating”  them. According to Schabas, those who “deserve the blame” are “Israel and its friends, who have manipulated the truth about the nature of the work of the United Nations by gross exaggeration of the role and intervention of certain fanatics.” Schabas described Ahmadinejad as nothing more than a “provocative politician,” and not a torturer of dissidents, inciter of genocidal anti-Semitism, and arch-sponsor of terrorism. Need I say more? Israel manipulates the truth in his own words. Again does it matter what we say anymore?

I truly wonder at which university Schabas is a professor because I have my doubts at his integrity and knowledge. I have found that he currently works as an international law professor at Middlesex University in England. I pity his students.  He has written multiple books on the issue of international law, does that make him an expert. I wrote a book on dating, so I am an expert.

What could the UNHCR have done differently? Well apart from getting rid of pillay, they could have investigated Syria, Sudan, Iran, Russia, the USA, France and I can go on, but double standards abound. Does it matter that people are being beheaded by Muslims. Israel cannot be blamed. Is it not a human right to keep your own head? Does it matter that if you do not convert to Islam, you can be killed. Does it matter what NATO did in Yugoslavia? Or Turkey did to the Kurdish people? Or the Syrians? Not at all, because Israel cannot be blamed.

In essence, it is not important who was selected to head this investigation as it was already decided that Israel is guilty.
